An Air Algerie Boeing 737-800 preparing to depart to Burkina Faso rejected takeoff from Abidjan, Ivory Coast after two tyres burst on 28 September 2024.
Air Algerie flight AH5318, operated by a Boeing 737-800, was conducting a takeoff from Abidjan Port Bouët Airport (ABJ). During the takeoff roll, two of the aircraft’s main landing gear tyres burst. Flight crew carried out a rejected takeoff procedure and brought the aircraft to a stop on the runway.

According to the online source Aviation Herald, the aircraft was disabled on the active runway. Authorities suspended flight operations in and out of Port Bouët Airport for four hours. The aircraft was towed from the active runway to the apron hardstanding area.
Air Algerie subsequently confirmed that the issue stemmed from the bursting of two main gear tyres. The airline shipped replacement wheel assemblies to the aircraft location from Algiers.

The aircraft conducting the AH5318 service to Burkina Faso was a Boeing 737-800, registered 7T-VKF. This is a 13.9 year old narrowbody aircraft belonging to the carrier Air Algerie. It has been operational service with the airline since its initial delivery from the factory in November 2010.
