During the approach, the aircraft’s wing flaps remained locked in the retracted (zero degrees) position. Flight crew terminated the approach and entered a holding pattern to conduct troubleshooting checks.

Following a brief period of holding, the aircraft was committed to a second approach to runway 08. The subsequent landing was conducted without further incident at a higher landing speed. The aircraft landed, presumably in flap list configuration, just over 30 minutes after entering holding procedures.

Flight Details

Flight data shows that flight 3O122 had made a slightly delayed departure out of Amsterdam Schiphol at 2141 local time on 8 October. Scheduled departure time for the service was listed as 2105 local time.

Following its departure, the flight had proceeded normally, climbing to flight level FL370 (37,000 feet) for the southerly route to Morocco.

Let down and approach procedures were similarly conducted normally, with flight crew reporting the secondary control issue during the approach to runway 08. The approach was then discontinued at 2000 feet, and the aircraft then climbed to 7000 feet.

A brief period of holding was then conducted at 7000 feet for troubleshooting checklists before the second approach was attempted.
