An Air Dolomiti Embraer ERJ-195 en route from Florence to Frankfurt diverted to Verona after reporting the presence of smoke on board on 28 October 2024.
Air Dolomiti flight EN8855, operated by an Embraer ERJ-195, had departed from Florence Airport (FLR), bound for Frankfurt am Main International Airport (FRA).

The flight was in the cruise to the north of Verona when the flight crew reported the presence of smoke on board. As a result, flight crew negotiated a precautionary diversion to Verona Villafranca Airport (VRN).
The flight subsequently landed on a runway 04 Villafranca Airport, approximately 15 minutes after carrying out the diversion.

Flight data shows that the flight EN8855 had made an on-time departure out of Florence Airport at 1433 local time on 28 October.
Following a normal departure, the flight had climbed to flight level FL360 for the northerly route to Frankfurt.
The aircraft had passed approximately 40 nautical miles to the north of Verona in cruising flight when the diversion was carried out.
Flight crew declared an emergency during the descent phase, squawking transponder code 7700.
The aircraft conducting the EN8855 service to Frankfurt was an Embraer ERJ-195, registered I-ADJO. This is a 15.6-year-old regional aircraft belonging to the carrier Air Dolomiti. It has been operational servers with the airline since its initial delivery from the factory in April 2009. The aircraft operates under the airline name “La Traviata di Giuseppe Verdi”.
