Air Serbia, the national carrier of Serbia, recently celebrated the arrival of its third wide-body Airbus A330-200 at Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport.

This new addition, registered as YU-ARD, stands out with its unique EXPO 2027 livery. This promotes the upcoming international exhibition set to take place in Belgrade from May 15 to August 15, 2027.

Expanding Long-Haul Capabilities

The introduction of this aircraft marks a significant step in Air Serbia’s strategy to expand its long-haul network. Jiri Marek, CEO of Air Serbia, emphasized the importance of this development.

“Our ability to operate flights to North America and China has been strengthened with this new Airbus A330-200. By featuring the EXPO 2027 visual identity, we’re not only enhancing our fleet. We’re also promoting an event crucial for Serbia and the wider region.”

Air Serbia demonstrates its commitment to growth by planning to add a fourth wide-body aircraft to its fleet. This is expected for delivery by the end of 2024, also showcasing the EXPO 2027 branding.

Aircraft Specifications

Air Serbia acquired its latest Airbus A330-200, which the manufacturer built in 2014. It is configured for 262 passengers, with 22 seats in business class and 240 in economy.

This wide-body jet can operate to a maximum cruising altitude of 41,450 feet. It will now serve on the expanding long-haul network. The EXPO Belgrade 2027 livery was applied in Lisbon using 270 special decals, creating a striking visual impact.

Air Serbia’s Wide-Body Fleet

This latest addition joins two existing Airbus A330-200 aircraft in Air Serbia’s fleet:

  • YU-ARB: Joined in April 2021, named after Nikola Tesla
  • YU-ARC: Added in November 2022, honoring Mihajlo Pupin

Both aircraft feature images of these renowned Serbian scientists, showcasing the country’s rich scientific heritage.

Global Ambassador for Serbia

Current routes span from Chicago and New York in the west to Tianjin and Guangzhou in the east. Air Serbia’s extended fleet will serve as a flying billboard for both the country and EXPO 2027.

This strategic move not only enhances the airline’s operational capabilities but also positions Serbia as a key player on the global stage.

As Air Serbia continues to grow its long-haul network, the addition of this third Airbus A330-200 represents another milestone in the airline’s development and its role in promoting Serbia to the world.
