An Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 9 departing for Seattle, WA was forced to reject takeoff in Nashville due to a runway incursion on 12 September 2024.
Alaska Airlines flight AS369 was conducting a departure from RWY13 Nashville International Airport (BNA) when the ground incident occurred.

Having received the takeoff clearance from ATC, flight crew acknowledged the clearance and commenced the takeoff roll. At the same time, Southwest Airlines flight WN2029, a Boeing 737-700 taxiing for departure via RWY20C to Jacksonville, FL, had been cleared to cross RWY13.
After receiving the clearance from ATC, the Southwest flight proceeded to enter and cross RWY13 as per the instruction. Flight WN2029 had been cleared to cross at the overshoot and of RWY13, which was occupied by the departing Alaska airlines flight.
Rejected Takeoff at High Speed
As a result of the runway incursion, Alaska Airlines flight AS369 performed a rejected takeoff at high speed (above 100kt). The flight was able to avoid a potential traffic conflict and then cleared the active runway. During the taxi procedure back to the gate several tyres deflated on the aircraft. The flight was able to disembark passengers in close proximity to the terminal.
The NTSB will now conduct an investigation into the cause of the runway incursion resulting in the conflict.
Alaska Airlines flight AS369 to Seattle was being operated by a Boeing 737 MAX 9, registered N919AK. This is a 3.6-year-old narrowbody aircraft belonging to Alaska airlines. It has been an operational service with the airline since its initial delivery from the factory in March 2021.
Southwest Airlines flight WN2029 taxiing for departure to Jacksonville was a Boeing 737-700 registered N225WN. This is an 18.9 year old narrowbody aircraft belonging to the carrier Southwest Airlines. It has been an operational service with the airline since its initial delivery from the factory in December 2005.
