In the last few moments, American Airlines flight AA43 from Venice to Chicago has declared an emergency and is diverting to Dublin.
N831AA is the aircraft involved in the incident.

UPDATE #1 @ 1821 UK time – The aircraft is currently diverting to Dublin Airport.
UPDATE #2 @ 1826 UK time – As per @Shauns_Aviation on X, it is understood the emergency at hand is medical-related onboard the aircraft.
Furthermore, the aircraft is at FL190, presumably to burn fuel enroute to the diversion field.
UPDATE #3 @ 1828 UK time – N831AA is the aircraft involved in the emergency onboard American Airlines flight AA43 Venice-Chicago.
As per Planespotters, N831AA is a 6.9 year old Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner that was delivered to the airline back in October 2017.
Moreover, of the 787-9 variant, American Airlines has 22 of them in their fleet.
Also, within the 22, all but one are in active service, with an average fleet age of 6.9 years.
UPDATE #4 @ 1830 UK time – American Airlines flight AA43, originally bound for Chicago from Venice, is continuing it’s descent into Dublin following it’s emergency declaration.
Furthermore, as previously confirmed, this is a medical emergency.
UPDATE #5 @ 1838 UK time – AA43 is nearing the Dublin area now, descending through FL150.
UPDATE #6 @ 1845 UK time – AA43 is now on the base leg into Dublin, with the emergency landing expected imminently.
@Shauns_Aviation on X confirms that the aircraft will continue on to ORD later on tonight UK time.
UPDATE #7 @ 1847 UK time – AA43 is now on final approach into Dublin.
UPDATE #8 @ 1850 UK time – TOUCHDOWN! American Airlines flight AA43, originally bound for Chicago from Venice, has appeared to have touched down safely into Dublin following the emergency declaration not too long ago.
As a recap, the cause was a medical emergency.
