Cathay Pacific has unveiled plans to restart non-stop flights to Hyderabad, Telangana’s thriving capital city, with services beginning March 30, 2025.

The route restoration represents a significant expansion of the airline’s Indian network and reinforces Hong Kong’s position as a key aviation hub.

This strategic route addition reflects the airline’s focus on strengthening its presence in the rapidly growing Indian market while enhancing connectivity through its Hong Kong base.

Return of Hyderabad Service

“We’re thrilled to bring back our direct Hong Kong-Hyderabad connection,” says Lavinia Lau, Cathay Chief Customer and Commercial Officer. “These flights open up access to one of India’s most dynamic cities, celebrated for both its cultural heritage and flourishing tech industry.”

“Hyderabad’s emergence as a global technology hub makes it an invaluable addition to our network, serving both business and leisure travelers.”

“This relaunch demonstrates our long-standing commitment to India and our dedication to expanding services in this crucial market.”

“We’re focused on building stronger cultural and business ties between Hong Kong and India while developing our home base as a premier international aviation center,” Lau added. This gives a sense of the strategic importance of the route in Cathay Pacific’s expansion plans.

A330-300 Operations

The Hyderabad route will feature Airbus A330-300 aircraft with both Business and Economy options, offering passengers the signature Cathay Pacific experience with state-of-the-art entertainment systems and award-winning service.

Initially operating three weekly flights, the service will increase to five weekly flights from September 1, 2025, responding to anticipated strong demand on this route.

Cathay Group, Hong Kong's flagship airline, has committed to purchasing 30 A330-900 (A330neo) widebody aircraft from Airbus. This decision comes after a comprehensive assessment of the airline's mid-size widebody fleet renewal program.

Expanded Indian Network

Cathay Pacific’s presence in India continues to grow significantly. The airline currently operates 31 weekly return flights serving four Indian cities, providing crucial connectivity between India and Hong Kong.

This frequency will expand to 39 weekly returns by March 30, 2025, and further increase to 43 weekly returns by September 1, 2025.

Under the enhanced schedule, the airline will offer twice-daily flights to Delhi, meeting the high demand on this popular route.

Mumbai will see ten weekly services, while Bengaluru and Chennai will maintain daily connections. The addition of five weekly flights to Hyderabad completes this robust network expansion.

Greater Bay Area Connectivity

Beyond Hong Kong, passengers can access multiple Greater Bay Area destinations through the SkyPier Terminal’s integrated ferry services and coach transfer options with seamless codeshare connections.

These innovative intermodal services have revolutionized regional travel, eliminating the need for separate bookings and multiple check-in procedures. The convenient transfer services have proven particularly popular during events like the Canton Fair, thanks to direct access via the Guangzhou Pazhou Ferry Terminal, demonstrating the practical benefits of Cathay Pacific’s integrated transport approach.

Cathay Pacific’s extensive Greater Bay Area coverage includes seamless connections to nine key destinations. The comprehensive ferry network services connect passengers to major commercial hubs. These include Dongguan Humen, Guangzhou Pazhou, Guangzhou Nansha, Macao Maritime, Shenzhen Shekou, Shenzhen Airport, and Zhongshan Port.

Complementing these maritime connections, coach services via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge provide efficient access to HZMB Macao Port and HZMB Zhuhai Port.

All these connections feature immigration-free transfers in Hong Kong, with through-check baggage service to final destinations when booked through Cathay Pacific’s official channels.

This streamlined process ensures a hassle-free journey for passengers, reinforcing Cathay Pacific’s commitment to providing premium travel experiences.

The airline’s investment in these comprehensive connectivity options underscores its vision of Hong Kong as a leading global aviation hub, connecting Asia and beyond.
