Starting September 25, 2024, Delta Air Lines and SAS (Scandinavian Airlines System) will launch a new codeshare agreement. This collaboration follows SAS’ recent entry into the SkyTeam alliance on September 1. This marked a significant milestone in the airline’s history, as it moved past a major restructuring period.

The new partnership aims to improve travel options between North America and Scandinavia, offering shared codeshare and loyalty program benefits. Passengers can now earn and use SkyMiles or SAS EuroBonus points on both airlines. This allows for a more seamless travel experience.

SAS: Recent SkyTeam Stablemate

SAS operates as the flag carrier of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. It has been a cornerstone of Scandinavian aviation since its formation in 1946.

With a rich history spanning over seven decades, SAS has established itself as a leading carrier in Northern Europe. It is known for its commitment to sustainability and innovation in air travel. The airline’s recent joining of SkyTeam marks a new chapter in its evolution. This further aligned it with global aviation leaders and expanding its reach.

Codeshare Benefits

The agreement significantly expands travel choices for customers of both carriers in Europe and North America. Delta passengers from North America will gain access to 50 new destinations in Northern Europe, connecting through SAS hubs in Copenhagen, Oslo, and Stockholm.

These hubs serve as gateways to the Nordic region, offering travelers the opportunity to explore Scandinavia’s vibrant cities, stunning fjords, and unique cultural experiences.

In turn, SAS travelers can reach over 150 North American destinations via Delta’s key hubs in Atlanta, Boston, Los Angeles, New York, and Seattle. This expansion opens up a vast network of connections, from major metropolitan areas to scenic destinations across the United States and Canada.
