Delta Flight DL2133 Fort Lauderdale-New York Declares Emergency

Delta Air Lines flight DL2133, an A321-200 bound for New York, has declared an emergency after takeoff and is returning to Fort Lauderdale (FLL)

A Delta Air Lines flight operating from Fort Lauderdale to New York has declared an emergency shortly after departure.

Delta Air Lines flight DL2133, operated by an Airbus A321-200, declared the emergency with transponder code 7700 during the initial departure. The flight is now expediting a return to Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport.

Having declared a general emergency not long after departure, Delta flight DL2133 has expedited a direct return, and has now landed at the origin airport Fort Lauderdale Hollywood (FLL).

The nature of the emergency prompting the expedited return is not yet known.

Flight data shows that the Delta flight DL2133 made an on-time departure out of Fort Lauderdale earlier today. Departure time for the service was logged as 0708 local time.

The flight was bound for New York LaGuardia Airport (LGA). The flight was still below 10,000 feet on initial climb after takeoff when the emergency was declared.
Flight crew squawked transponder code 7700 at 0712 local time approximately five minutes after the flight’s initial departure. The climb was subsequently terminated at approximately 7000 feet and a direct return was initiated.

The aircraft conducting today’s DL2133 service to New York LaGuardia was an Airbus A321-200, registered N114DN. This is a 3.8-year-old narrowbody aircraft belonging to the carrier Delta Air Lines.

It has been an operational service with the airline since its initial delivery from the factory in January 2021.
