An easyJet flight departing Paris for Marrakesh has declared an emergency shortly after takeoff and is currently returning to Paris.

easyJet flight U24465, an Airbus A320-200, declared the emergency with squawk code 7700 before initiating a return to Paris Charles De Gaulle Airport (CDG).

Flight crew declared the emergency whilst still in French airspace, on climb through FL170 (17,000 feet). The flight has now discontinued the climb and is maintaining FL 150 on return to the origin airport. The nature of the emergency prompting the return is not yet known.

Having declared an emergency shortly after departure, easyJet flight U24465 is now under vectoring for its return to Paris, on descent through 3,000 feet. Weather for the flight’s return is VFR, with visibility 10 kilometres or more. Flight crew have maintained the priority emergency transponder code 7700 through the diversion and return.

Having expedited a return earlier this afternoon, flight U24665, originally bound for Marrakesh, has now landed at the origin airport, Paris Charles De Gaulle (CDG).

Flight data shows that flight U24665 had departed from Paris CDG at 1547 local time this afternoon. The flight had set course normally and was on climb near Orleans in French airspace when the emergency was declared. The aircraft conducting today’s U24665 service was an Airbus A320-200, registered OE-IZF. This is a 9 year old narrowbody aircraft belonging to the carrier easyJet.
