An easyJet flight operating from Belfast to Leeds has declared an emergency after holding at the destination.
easyJet flight U247 attempted an arrival into Leeds earlier this afternoon, and has now diverted, squawking transponder code 7700.

Having held at Leeds Bradford Airport, flight U247 is now establishing on an approach into the alternate Manchester Airport (MAN). The emergency declaration was possibly a low fuel priority issue.

Flight U247 arrived at Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) in Limited IFR conditions (LIFR). Weather for the flight’s arrival was instrument flight conditions, with visibility 800 metres in conditions of fog. The cloud base at the time was 200 feet.
Having entered holding at the destination, the aircraft then initiated a diversion to the alternate airport of Manchester (MAN), where weather conditions were more favourable. Transponder code 7700 was squawked at 1630 local time, as the aircraft tracked for Manchester at 8000 feet.
Priority was then given for approach and landing to the alternate airport.
The aircraft conducting this afternoon’s U247 service from Belfast International Airport (BFS) was an Airbus A319-100, registered G-EZGH. This is 13.5 year old narrowbody aircraft belonging to the carrier easyJet. It has been in operational service with the airline since its initial delivery in April 2011.
