An easyJet Switzerland Airbus A320-200 operating a flight from Geneva, Switzerland to Madrid, Spain made a precautionary return to Geneva with a generator problem on 7 August 2024.
easyJet Switzerland flight U21379, an Airbus A320-200 bound for Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport (MAD) reported the failure of two of their three generators whilst in the cruise en route.

Upon reporting the problem, flight crew negotiated a direct return to Geneva Airport (GVA). The aircraft subsequently landed without incident approximately one hour after its initial departure.

Flight data shows that flight U21379 made an on-time departure Geneva Airport at 1900 local time on 7 August.
The flight had then set course normally, climbing to flight level FL320 (32,000 feet) for the south-westerly service to Madrid.
Shortly after levelling off at cruising altitude, the diversion and subsequent descent was made to return the aircraft to Geneva Airport.
The flight was approximately 130 nautical miles to the south west of Geneva on flight plan track when the diversion was made.
The aircraft conducting the U21379 service to Madrid was an Airbus A320-200, registered HB-JZX. This is a 14.7 year old narrowbody aircraft belonging to the carrier easyJet Switzerland.
It has been in service with the airline since February 2011. Prior to that it was operated by the parent airline easyJet from its initial delivery in January 2010.
easyJet Switzerland is a Swiss low-cost airline based in Meyrin, Geneva. It operates as a franchise of the larger easyJet group, offering flights from Geneva Airport and EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg.
While a separate entity, it shares the same brand and business model as the larger easyJet group. It primarily operates within Switzerland, offering domestic and international flights. The carrier operates a fleet of Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft.
