A HiFly Malta Airbus A330-200 operating a scheduled service from Algiers, Algeria to Istanbul suffered a loss of cabin pressure whilst enroute on 22 September 2024.
Flight AH3018 was being operated by a HiFly Malta Airbus A330-200 on behalf of Air Algerie. The flight had conducted a departure from Algiers Houari Boumediene Airport (ALG), bound for Istanbul Airport (IST).

The aircraft was on climb through flight level FL380 (38,000 feet) to the east of Algiers when it lost cabin pressure. Flight crew initiated a depressurised emergency descent procedure, and passenger oxygen masks were deployed.
The aircraft then conducted a precautionary return to Algiers Houari Boumediene Airport at reduced altitude. The flight subsequently landed at the origin airport without further incident, approximately 90 minutes after its initial departure.

Available flight data shows that flight AH318 made a delayed departure out of Algiers at 2305 local time on 22 September. The scheduled departure time for the service was 22.10 local time.
The flight had then set course normally, and was step climbing through FL380 when the depressurization event occurred. With the aircraft on track approximately 200nm to the east of the departure airport, the emergency descent and return was carried out.
The aircraft conducting the AH3018 service on behalf of Air Algiers was an Airbus A330-200, registered 9H-HFH. This is a 16.2 year old widebody aircraft belonging to the operator HiFly Malta. It has been in operational service with the carrier since July 2023.
