London Stansted Airport has concluded the bulk of it’s Summer 2024 operation and has reflected on a record-breaking period.
The airline has outlined their numbers for August 2024, which has some records broken within this.

The Numbers from London Stansted…
London Stansted Airport had a record-breaking month, hitting the three million passenger mark for the first time in it’s history.
The official figure is 3.06m, which was 4.9% higher than the same period last year, where 2.97m passengers were handled.
The 12-month rolling figure at the end of August for the airport stands at 29.26m passengers, which is 7.8% higher than the previous period.
London Stansted Airport noted that the most popular countries were Spain, Italy and Turkey.
Powell: The Airport Has Been Busier Than Ever Before…
Commenting on the numbers was Gareth Powell, the Managing Director of London Stansted Airport:
“This year London Stansted has been busier than ever before, and the peak summer season continued that upward trajectory as we welcomed a record-breaking number of passengers and experienced our busiest ever month in August, breaking through the three million passenger a month milestone for the first time in our history.
“Also, we not only recorded our busiest ever single day in August, we actually broke the record on four separate occasions as passenger demand increased during the school holidays.
“Across what was our busiest ever summer, and with record passenger demand driven by our extensive and growing route network, we remained fully focused on our commitment to deliver a strong and consistent level of customer service.
“This helped deliver a very reliable security performance which resulted in 99% of our passengers passing through security in 15 minutes or less, and an average security queue time of less than two minutes 30 seconds during our busiest departure periods of the day.
“We recognise our passengers really value a simple and efficient experience when using London Stansted, and I’m very proud that thanks to the hard work and dedication of all our teams right across the airport, including our airline and handling agent partners, we consistently achieved this aim throughout our record-breaking summer season.”

In conclusion, London Stansted Airport has had a very strong Summer, with the August numbers showing that.
