As part of its expansion plan, LOT Polish Airlines, Poland’s national carrier, has secured a deal for three additional Boeing 737-8 aircraft.

This will come through a partnership with BOC Aviation Limited, a global aircraft leasing company, marking LOT’s debut as a BOC Aviation customer.

The agreement, announced by BOC Aviation, involves the placement of three state-of-the-art Boeing 737-8 aircraft with LOT Polish Airlines.

CFM LEAP-1B engines will power these aircraft, which BOC Aviation plans to deliver in 2025. This strategic fleet expansion aligns perfectly with LOT’s laid out growth ambitions and commitment to modernizing its aircraft line-up.

New Partnership with BOC Aviation

The recently announced agreement marks the first negotiation with the global lessor for LOT Polish.

Steven Townend, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of BOC Aviation, was understandably pleased about the new partnership. “We are thrilled to welcome LOT, Poland’s flag carrier and one of the most recognizable Polish brands, to our customer base,” Townend stated.

He emphasized BOC Aviation’s commitment to fostering relationships with airlines globally and diversifying its lessee network.

Supporting LOT’s Growth Strategy

LOT Polish Airlines recently embarked on an ambitious growth plan to expand its fleet and passenger capacity. The airline aims to increase its fleet size by a substantial 50% by 2028. This will effectively bring the total number of aircraft on line to 110.

New orders for Embraer E195-E2 regional jets and additional Boeing 737 MAX 8s will fuel this expansion. With a larger fleet, LOT expects to carry a significantly higher number of passengers, targeting 16.9 million by 2028.

The airline designs this growth strategy to strengthen its market position. It seeks to enhance passenger experience, and offers further potential to open up new routes and destinations.

The addition of these Boeing 737-8 aircraft plays a crucial role in LOT Polish Airlines’ expansion plans.

As one of the world’s most popular single-aisle jets, the 737-8 will enable LOT to enhance its route network, improve passenger comfort, and maintain its competitive edge in the European aviation market.

Looking Ahead

LOT Polish Airlines is Poland’s flag carrier, boasting a rich history dating back to 1928. As one of the world’s oldest airlines in operation, it has been a cornerstone of Polish aviation.

Based in Warsaw, LOT offers domestic and international flights to a wide range of destinations across Europe, Asia, and North America, as a member of the Star Alliance.

This fleet expansion furthers a chapter of growth for LOT Polish Airlines as it continues to strengthen its position as a leading European carrier.

With the delivery of these new aircraft on the horizon, passengers can look forward to a more superior travel experience, while the airline derives benefits from improved operational efficiency and reduced environmental impact.

As LOT Polish Airlines prepares to welcome these new Boeing 737-8 aircraft, the aviation industry watches with keen interest. This strategic move not only bolsters LOT’s fleet but also its positioning in the competitive regional sector.
