In the last 30 minutes, Modern Logistics flight WD9704 has made an emergency landing at Viracopos Airport with a problem onboard.

Information is limited surrounding this incident, but below is what we know on this so far.

In the last 30 minutes, Modern Logistics flight WD9704 has made an emergency landing at Viracopos Airport with a problem onboard.

Modern Logistics flight WD9704, which made the emergency landing, was performing a cargo flight out of Viracopos Airport in Campinas.

Furthermore, it is understood the aircraft involved in the incident was PP-YBB.

As per data from Planespotters.net, PP-YBB is a 30.7 year old Boeing 737-400 that first started out life with Turkish Airlines in January 1994.

By January 2000, the aircraft was handed over to Air Anatolia, before being sent to MNG Airlines in February 2003.

Moreover, by April 2006, Corendon Airlines took ownership of the aircraft and remained there until being sent to Enter Air in April 2011.

November 2016 saw the aircraft sent to Vx Capital Partners, before being handed over in a cargo configuration to Modern Logistics in December 2017.

The Brazilian carrier has three aircraft in their fleet, consisting of:

  • 1 Boeing 737-400F.
  • 2 Boeing 737-800Fs.

Modern Logistics flight WD9704, which made the emergency landing, departed Viracopos Airport at 1231 local time today and tracked north-easterly.

Over the Belo Horizonte area, the aircraft made a u-turn and opted to make a return back to Campinas.

Furthermore, it is understood the aircraft didn’t declare an emergency via the 7700 squawk code, but needed an emergency landing.

After an hour and a half in the air, the aircraft landed safely without further incident at 1405 local time.

Airport Was Closed As A Result…


Following the emergency landing of Modern Logistics flight WD9704, Viracopos Airport was closed due to the aircraft being stuck on the runway.

It is understood that the aircraft landed with a flat tyre, with a lot of smoke being seen coming from the aircraft.

Furthermore, it is unclear when the airport will reopen following this incident, as emergency crews need to perform relevant checks.

Once the aircraft vacates the runway, then the airport will be able to reopen.

For now, this remains a developing story pending additional updates.
