Significant Growth and Investment in Belfast
Ryanair’s commitment to Belfast has grown substantially since reopening its base in 2023. The airline has expanded operations by 64% compared to pre-Covid levels. It has two aircraft now permanently based at the airport. This represents a significant $200 million investment and has created over 850 local jobs.
The impact on regional tourism has been remarkable, with Ryanair transporting more than 1.2 million passengers to and from Belfast in 2024.
In a recent development, the airline has redirected over 50,000 winter seats from Dublin Airport to Belfast, following Dublin’s implementation of a 2007 traffic cap.
These additional flights will serve passengers during key periods including sporting events, school holidays, and the Christmas season, providing a welcome boost to Belfast’s off-peak winter travel market.
