Serene Air B737-800 Returns to Karachi with Engine Problem

A Serene Air B737-800 bound for Lahore, Pakistan made a return to Karachi after reporting a right-hand engine problem on 25 October.

A Serene Air Boeing 737-800 outbound to Lahore, Pakistan made a precautionary return to Karachi after reporting an engine problem on 25 October 2024.

Serene Air flight ER522, operated by a Boeing 737-800 had departed Karachi Jinnah International Airport (KHI). The aircraft was performing a scheduled service to Lahore Allama Iqbal International Airport (LHE).

During the climb procedure, flight crew reported experiencing a problem with the aircraft’s right-hand engine. A precautionary return to the origin airport was then conducted.

Following the direct return, the aircraft landed without further incident on runway 25L Jinnah International Airport. The aircraft landed approximately one hour after its initial departure.

Flight Details


Flight data shows that flight ER522 had made a departure out of Karachi at 1505 local time on 25 October.

The flight and then set course normally, and was on climb through flight level FL330 when the technical issue was reported. The climb was then terminated and a direct return to the origin airport was established.

The aircraft conducting the ER522 domestic service to Lahore was a Boeing 737-800, registered AP-BNA. This is an 8.1 year old narrowbody aircraft belonging to the carrier serene air. It has been in operational service with the airline since its initial delivery from the factory in November 2016.

Serene Air is a privately owned Pakistani airline that began operating in 2017. It offers both domestic and international flights, with its main hub located at Islamabad International Airport.
