A Transavia flight operating from Istanbul to Paris has declared an emergency shortly after departure. The aircraft is currently holding off the coast from Istanbul.
Transavia flight TO3423, a Boeing 737-800 departing Istanbul Istanbul Airport (IST) for Paris Orly Airport (ORY), declared the emergency with transponder code 7700 earlier this morning.

Flight TO3423 squawked transponder code 7700 in the initial stages of the climb after take off from Istanbul earlier this morning. The flight had made an on-time departure from Istanbul Airport at 0649 local time. The aircraft was passing through 4,000 feet when the emergency was declared.
Following the emergency declaration, the flight then continued the climb to 7,000 feet. Flight crew then entered a holding procedure off the coast to the north of Istanbul. This is presumably to dump fuel for a return to the origin airport.

Transavia flight TO3423 is continuing to hold off the coast of Istanbul, prior to a return to the origin airport. The flight is maintaining the priority transponder code 7700 through the procedure.
The aircraft conducting this morning’s TO3423 rotation to Paris Orly Airport is a Boeing 737-800, registered F-HTVL. This is a 16.4 year old narrowbody aircraft belonging to the carrier Transavia. It has been in operational service with the airline since March 2020.
