A Widerøe De Havilland Dash 8-400 conducting a scheduled service between Alesund and Bergen, Norway shutdown an engine in-flight on 28 September 2024.
Widerøe flight WF455, operated by a Dash 8-400, was en route between Alesund Airport (AES) and Bergen Airport (BER) when the incident occurred.

With the aircraft configured in cruising flight, flight crew reported the need to shut the left hand engine down. Following the in-flight shutdown, the aircraft continued on flight plan track. A drift down procedure was initiated from cruising level FL190 (19,000 feet).
The flight subsequently landed without further incident on runway 35 Bergen Airport, less than 30 minutes after the engine shut down. Specifics of the engine problem have not yet been advised by the airline or authorities.

Available flight data shows that flight WF455 had made an on-time departure out of Alesund at 1227 local time on 28 September. The flight had been set course normally, climbing to flight level FL190 for the southerly regional service to Bergen.
Following the en route engine shutdown, a drift down procedure was initiated at approximately 10:50 UTC.
The aircraft conducting the WF455 service from Alesund was a De Havilland Dash 8-400, registered LN-RDZ. This is a 22.9-year-old twin turboprop regional aircraft belonging to the carrier Widerøe.
It has been in operational service with the airline since April 2013. Prior to its current service it was operated by SAS Scandinavian Airlines since its initial delivery in June 2002.
